providing direct support to children or individuals with daily needs
building routines, structure, and everyday life skills
support with practical areas like budgeting, job searching, resumes, and interview preparation

While this isn’t therapy or clinical counselling, our work is guided by our training and accountability as Registered Social Service Workers (RSSWs) and the OCSWSSW Code of Ethics.
Possible Funding Options
Some individuals and families may be able to use existing funding to help cover support services.
Every program is different, and coverage is not guaranteed. It depends on your eligibility and how your funding can be used.
We always recommend checking directly with your program or coordinator if reimbursement is important to you.
That said, these are the most common options people ask about:
Ontario Autism Program (OAP)
If your child is registered in OAP, you may have access to funding that can be used for services and supports.
What to know:
OAP funding is often focused on clinical services
Some families are able to use funding more flexibly depending on their plan
Coverage for non-clinical support can vary
What you can do:
check your current funding agreement
contact your care coordinator or AccessOAP
ask what types of support are eligible under your specific funding
Special Services at Home (SSAH)
SSAH provides funding to families of children with developmental or physical disabilities.
This funding is often used for:
support in the home or community
help with daily routines and structure
caregiver relief
practical support for day-to-day needs
What to know:
families typically receive funding and submit receipts for reimbursement
services do not need to be clinical
support workers and practical support services are often eligible
This is one of the more flexible programs for non-clinical support.
Passport Funding (Adults 18+)
Passport is for adults with developmental disabilities.
Funding can be used for:
community participation
life skills and independence
support workers
planning and goal-setting
caregiver relief
What to know:
individuals receive a yearly funding amount
receipts are submitted for reimbursement
services can be provided by independent support providers
This program often aligns well with practical, one-on-one support.
Important to Keep in Mind
Every situation is different
Approval and reimbursement depend on your specific funding rules
Not all services are covered in all cases
We cannot guarantee that services will be reimbursed
We’re always happy to provide clear invoices and descriptions to support your submission.
