What We Offer

We try to keep things straightforward and flexible.

We also understand that everyone’s situation is different:

  • We help you make sense of paperwork and systems that can feel confusing or overwhelming.

    This includes (but is not limited to):

    • disability funding applications (such as SSAH or OAP)

    • Disability Tax Credit (DTC) forms

    • ODSP or other financial support applications

    • school-related supports (IEPs, meetings, documentation)

    • medical or assessment paperwork

    • navigating government programs and services

    You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. We’ll go through it with you, step by step.

  • We support parents and families who are dealing with challenging behaviour, disability-related needs, and everyday situations that can feel overwhelming.

    This might include:

    • practical support around aggression, escalation, shutdowns, or other difficult behaviours at home or in the community

    • understanding patterns, triggers, and everyday factors that may be affecting behaviour

    • building routines and expectations that feel more manageable

    • improving communication and reducing tension at home

    • support navigating disability services, school concerns, and related paperwork

    • guidance that helps caregivers respond in ways that feel safer, calmer, and more realistic

    We focus on practical, respectful support that fits real life, not one-size-fits-all approaches.

    We offer grounded, one-on-one guidance and real-world strategies that help families feel less alone and more confident in what to do next.

    While this is not behaviour therapy or clinical treatment, we can help you make sense of what’s happening, think through how to respond, and feel more prepared in everyday situations.

  • When behaviour escalates and things feel intense, overwhelming, or unsafe, we provide practical, in-the-moment support to help you respond more calmly and safely.

    This might include:

    • support during high-stress situations involving aggression, escalation, dysregulation, or shutdown

    • helping caregivers think through safer responses in the moment

    • identifying practical ways to lower tension and reduce risk

    • creating simple, realistic safety strategies for home and community settings

    • building confidence in handling difficult moments without judgment

    Our focus is on safety, respect, and practical support that works in real-life situations.

    We provide grounded, real-world guidance that helps families feel more prepared, more confident, and less alone during difficult moments.

    While this is not behaviour therapy or formal clinical assessment, we can help you understand what’s happening, respond more effectively, and feel more in control when things escalate.

  • We support you in navigating systems, services, and conversations where it can feel hard to be heard, understood, or taken seriously.

    This might include:

    • preparing for meetings with schools, doctors, caseworkers, or service providers

    • organizing your thoughts so you know what to ask, say, or follow up on

    • understanding your options, rights, and next steps within services or programs

    • helping you keep track of information, paperwork, and communication

    • attending meetings with you for support, advocacy, and a second voice when needed

    If you’ve ever left a meeting feeling dismissed, confused, or unsure what just happened, you’re not alone.

    We help you go in feeling more prepared, more confident, and more in control of the situation.

    You don’t have to handle these systems on your own. We’re there to support you so your voice is heard and taken seriously.

  • Sometimes you just need someone to talk things through with, or someone to support you or your family member more directly.

    We offer one-on-one support for individuals and families when things feel overwhelming, unclear, or hard to manage on your own.

    This can look like:

    • talking through stress, anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed in day-to-day life

    • working through challenges at home, in relationships, or within your family

    • providing direct support to children or individuals with daily needs

    • building routines, structure, and everyday life skills

    • support with practical areas like budgeting, job searching, resumes, and interview preparation

    • learning skills like using public transit or navigating the community more independently

    • helping you figure out next steps when you feel stuck or unsure what to do

    We meet you where you’re at and adjust support to fit your situation.

    We offer grounded, one-on-one support where you can talk things through, feel heard, and get practical help that fits your real life.

    We’re here to listen, help you make sense of what’s going on, and support you in moving forward in a way that feels manageable.

    While this isn’t therapy or clinical counselling, our work is guided by our training and accountability as Registered Social Service Workers (RSSWs) and the OCSWSSW Code of Ethics.

Possible Funding Options

Some individuals and families may be able to use existing funding to help cover support services.

Every program is different, and coverage is not guaranteed. It depends on your eligibility and how your funding can be used.

We always recommend checking directly with your program or coordinator if reimbursement is important to you.

That said, these are the most common options people ask about:

Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

If your child is registered in OAP, you may have access to funding that can be used for services and supports.

What to know:

  • OAP funding is often focused on clinical services

  • Some families are able to use funding more flexibly depending on their plan

  • Coverage for non-clinical support can vary

What you can do:

  • check your current funding agreement

  • contact your care coordinator or AccessOAP

  • ask what types of support are eligible under your specific funding

Special Services at Home (SSAH)

SSAH provides funding to families of children with developmental or physical disabilities.

This funding is often used for:

  • support in the home or community

  • help with daily routines and structure

  • caregiver relief

  • practical support for day-to-day needs

What to know:

  • families typically receive funding and submit receipts for reimbursement

  • services do not need to be clinical

  • support workers and practical support services are often eligible

This is one of the more flexible programs for non-clinical support.

Apply for SSAH

Passport Funding (Adults 18+)

Passport is for adults with developmental disabilities.

Funding can be used for:

  • community participation

  • life skills and independence

  • support workers

  • planning and goal-setting

  • caregiver relief

What to know:

  • individuals receive a yearly funding amount

  • receipts are submitted for reimbursement

  • services can be provided by independent support providers

This program often aligns well with practical, one-on-one support.
